UNDead in the Water 2025: Tampa’s Haunted Ship Attraction Sets Sail for Terror

If you’re searching for one of the best haunted house in Tampa this fall, look no further than UNDead in the Water. Tampa’s only nautical haunted attraction returns for its eighth season of scares aboard the historic American Victory Ship. This year, the vessel transforms into The Iron Widow, a floating fortress crawling with dangerous criminals, brutal guards, and more than a few terrifying surprises.

From September 26 through November 1, 2025, guests can explore this one-of-a-kind haunted ship in Tampa, navigating eerie passageways, cell blocks, and rusted decks where fear lurks in every shadow. The question is simple: will you survive The Iron Widow?

What Makes UNDead in the Water Different?

Unlike your typical haunted house, UNDead in the Water puts you aboard a real World War II ship. The historic setting raises the stakes, with every narrow hallway and echoing chamber adding to the suspense. This year’s storyline plunges you into a prison riot gone wrong, where both prisoners and guards have lost control. Violence rules these corridors, and escaping alive won’t be easy.

Guests can expect:

  • Live scare actors bringing the story to life

  • Immersive special effects throughout the ship

  • Timed entry slots to keep the experience personal and intense

Supporting History While You Scream

Proceeds from UNDead in the Water benefit the American Victory Ship and Museum, one of only five World War II merchant steamships left in the country. Visiting this attraction means you’re not only experiencing Tampa’s most thrilling haunted event—you’re also supporting the preservation of a vital piece of American history.

About the American Victory Ship

Built in 1945, the SS American Victory carried crucial cargo during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Today, the ship offers educational tours, serves as a training site for the military and first responders, and hosts community events. Since its arrival in Tampa in 1999, volunteers have dedicated over 1,000,000 hours to restoring and maintaining the vessel.

The American Victory Ship and Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), located in the Water Street District directly behind The Florida Aquarium, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
