Polk County Parks & Recreation is looking for teens who want to get involved in fun and events in their local community. There are multiple programs and special events occurring this spring across the county in need of volunteers. Teens may apply to gain volunteer hours that are applicable towards scholarships or graduation. These volunteer opportunities are for teens 14 years and up. They can have fun, learn, and get involved in connecting with their community.

After School Programs Needs Volunteers- Lakeland – Flexible Schedule
The Wabash Community is looking for volunteers for the After-School All-Star Program. This free program is a weekly program that provides homework help, educational activities, and recreation activities for the community kids. Volunteers will help facilitate activities with the Parks & Recreation staff. Volunteers are asked to volunteer 1 day per week and can earn up to 2.5 hours per week. Weekly volunteer days can be flexible. You will be coordinating your availability with the Wabash Community Center Manager. After School All-Stars Starting: Jan 1 – May 31, 2023 Program times: 2:30 – 5 p.m. Location: 1230 Southern Ave., Lakeland The After-School program follows the Polk County Public School Calendar. Earn volunteer hours for graduation or scholarships. Volunteers can early up to 9 hours per month Requirements: Must be 14 years old or older We do NOT accept court-ordered volunteers

Volunteers are wanted for the Good Ol’ Days Folk Festival – an event in a historic venue celebrating Polk’s Pioneer Past! Volunteers will assist with craft activities, check-in areas, and more. This is a really fun and easy event! Volunteers may bring their own drinks and snacks if they would like. We will provide water and POSSIBLY snacks or other beverages.
