Reading with the Rays Summer Reading Program is back again this summer! The Tampa Bay Rays, Suncoast Credit Union, and the Tampa Bay Times Newspaper in Education program are thrilled to celebrate the theme of adventure in the 17th annual Read Your Way to the Ballpark summer reading program! The purpose of summer reading programs is to motivate elementary-aged children to continue reading during their summer break in order to prevent the “summer slide.”
You can download a game card HERE to keep track of how often the kids are reading. The rules of the game are simple. Pick a book from home, explore your local library’s website, or read something else. As the kids read they track their hours by rounding the bases on the game piece. When a base is reached an adult initials the base and then you take it to the local library for the librarian to initial as well. Round the bases by reading a total of 24 hours this summer and earn exclusive Rays prizes!
