Melani Denton

Meet Melani Denton. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Melani moved to Polk County 12 years ago and has made it her home ever since. It’s here that she met her fiancé and has raised her children. Melani is a dedicated full-time mom to two girls and a loving stepmom to three boys.

A self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Melani always knew the 9-5 life wasn’t for her. She has started and completed many businesses over the years. However, she discovered her true passion in making everyday moments special for her kids. This passion led her to her current journey as an event stylist and balloon artist, where she brings joy and creativity to every occasion.

Melani’s journey into the business world began with her father’s party rental company. She helped him with naming, logo design, and other startup essentials. This experience sparked her love for making every day feel special for her kids, inspiring her to bring that same joy to other families through her own business.

When asked how she manages to juggle work and being a parent, Melani credits her husband as her biggest supporter. “He’s the greatest dad in the world!” she exclaims. His unwavering support allows her to pursue her passion for event styling and balloon artistry while being there for their kids. Melani’s favorite part of parenting is watching her children grow into their own unique personalities. However, this also brings a bittersweet feeling as they become more independent, making her feel a bit less needed.

We asked Melani what was her favorite part of owning her own business, she said it was watching the smiles and joy she brings to others through her event styling. Seeing families celebrate with her creations is the ultimate reward. We asked Melani what was the best advice she ever received and she stated “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to you. Things don’t just happen. You’ve got to work hard for anything in life you want.” This mantra drives her daily efforts and entrepreneurial spirit.

When asked what she loves about living and working in Polk County, Melani stated that she loves the slower pace of life in Polk County, reminiscent of her own childhood. It’s the perfect environment for raising her kids. However, she misses the proximity to the beach, a staple of her island upbringing. Taking five kids to the beach now feels like a mission impossible but she still does it. Lake Eva Park and Downtown Winter Haven hold a special place in Melani’s heart for their tranquility. She also cherishes visits to her parents’ house in Winter Haven, where family ties remain strong.

Melani’s ultimate goal is simple yet profound: to be happy and make those around her happy. Her biggest inspiration is her father, who has always been an excellent role model and has never given up on anything in life.

Balloon Masterclass

This August Melani will be hosting a Balloon Masterclass in Haines City. Here she will be teaching others how to create organic balloon garlands, balloon centerpieces as well as teaching different installation techniques.
