Getting to Know Genna: The Multitasking CEO
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: Hi there! I’m Genna, the CEO of Aaronson Insurance Group by day and a sharp-suited realtor by night. I make sure your life’s “uh-ohs” are covered with the right insurance and help you find that perfect place to call home. When I’m not juggling policies and house keys, I’m hanging out with my amazing family. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, where the maple syrup flows, I now call Polk County home. Whether it’s saving you from insurance disasters or finding you your dream home, I’m your go-to gal!
Q: How many kids do you have, and what are their ages? How do you juggle work with being a parent?
A: I’m the proud parent of an incredible 11-year-old boy, and juggling work and parenting has taught me some serious life hacks. Prioritizing is key—sometimes dinner trumps finding the glitter glue for a school project. My calendar is my best friend, reminding me to breathe and blink amid the chaos. Delegation? Oh, yes. At work, tasks go to my team; at home, my son’s got finding the TV remote down to an art. Flexible work arrangements are a lifesaver, letting me close deals in my blazer and pajama bottoms while my son’s in full video game mode. It’s all about quality time over quantity—when I’m home, I’m the best fort-builder and storyteller around. And let’s not forget self-care—sometimes it’s just locking myself in the bathroom for five minutes of peace. A strong support system and clear communication keep everything running smoothly, even when life feels like juggling flaming torches on a unicycle. Cheers to all the parents out there making it work!
Q: How did your business come about? What are your biggest challenges, successes, and goals?
A: The idea for Aaronson Insurance Group hit me one day as I was trying to decipher my own insurance policy and wondering if I’d accidentally signed up to insure a herd of llamas. I realized people needed better, more personalized insurance solutions, so I jumped in with determination and a passion for helping others. The challenges? Starting a business feels like navigating a rollercoaster while blindfolded and juggling flaming torches. The maze of insurance regulations was tough, but we cracked the code with persistence and lots of late-night reading. Building trust with clients was another hurdle—trust is everything in insurance. But with excellent customer service (and the occasional free merch), we built strong relationships. Our biggest success has been expanding our client base and receiving industry recognition. My ultimate goal? I’m aiming for industry domination! We want to become a household name, known for reliability and excellence, and leverage technology to make insurance more accessible. Plus, I’m all about fostering a positive and inclusive company culture where our team feels valued and inspired. The journey has been wild, but every challenge has made us stronger, and every success fuels our passion.
Q: What do you love and dislike about living in Polk County?
A: Living in Polk County is like being in a long-term relationship—mostly wonderful, with a few quirks. The landscapes here are breathtaking, like a Hollywood blockbuster brought to life. The community is close-knit, friendly, and always ready with a smile. It’s like living in a perpetual small-town Hallmark movie. But then there are the Polk County summers—hotter than a jalapeño’s armpit! Air conditioning is a must, not just a luxury. Despite the quirks, I love Polk County’s beauty, heart, and sense of community.
Q: What’s your favorite place to be in Polk County?
A: Honestly, my favorite place to be is home! While others dream of exotic vacations, I dream of my backyard, my lake, and my pajamas. Comfort is king—where else can you wear pajamas all day and call it a fashion statement? At home, I’m the master chef, whipping up culinary masterpieces like cereal with milk and toast with butter. It’s my sanctuary, my happy place, my fortress of solitude. So if you need me, you’ll probably find me in my bathing suit by the lake, enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
Q: What’s your ultimate goal?
A: Professionally, my goal is to grow Aaronson Insurance Group into a leading name in the industry. I want to expand our services, reach more clients, and build a team that’s skilled and committed to excellence. I’m all about continuous learning and adapting to stay ahead of industry trends. Ultimately, I want to leave a legacy—known for my dedication, vision, and the positive impact I’ve had on clients and colleagues.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Inspiration comes from the everyday moments—the perfect cup of coffee that fuels my creativity, the unfiltered honesty and boundless curiosity of my son, and even the humorous, sometimes absurd situations life throws at us. Fashion also inspires me—whether I’m nailing the business casual look or channeling my inner circus performer, it’s a reminder that confidence comes from within. In the end, it’s the small, chaotic moments that make life interesting and keep me inspired to keep pushing forward.
