Goldfish crackers are a family staple. We always have them on hand but I like to make my own every now and then. These are easy to make and require very little prep. The only thing needed is the goldfish cutter which I was lucky enough to find on Amazon.

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 6 Tbsp Cold Salted Butter
  • 1 -2 Tbsp Water

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper

Step 2

In a bowl or food processor, combine all dry ingredients. Mix well or Pulse if using a processor. Add the butter and pulse until it clumps. If you are not using a processor – use a fork to mix in the cold butter a tablespoon at a time until the dough clumps. Add the water gradually until the dough forms into a ball.

Step 3

Sprinkle flour on a surface. Roll out dough on the surface and form it into a ball. Cut the ball in half and roll out one-half of the dough. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Use goldfish cutter or cut into other small shape or into 1/2 inch squares.

Step 4

Place goldfish on the baking sheet and sprinkle with salt if desired. Bake for 15-16 minutes until golden. Let cool completely then store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Tips:

Tip 1

Use cold butter and cold water for best results

Tip 2

Oven temperatures vary so keep a close eye on the goldfish as to not burn them

Tip 3

Use different types of cheese to create your own flavor profile
