Saving Animals & Finding Homes

History

The Polk County Bully Project (PCBP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue organization dedicated to finding forever homes for misunderstood breeds, particularly pit bulls and other bully breeds, in Polk County, Florida. Established in 2019, PCBP aims to reduce euthanasia rates and end breed discrimination through education, community support, and practical care.

Community Impact

PCBP partners with local organizations and animal control to address the root causes of pet overpopulation and breed bias. Through spay and neuter programs, education on responsible pet ownership, and behavioral support, they work to ensure a brighter future for pets and their families.

Moreover, PCBP has fostered a sense of unity in the community by engaging volunteers, adopters, and supporters in their mission. From hosting adoption events to providing a safe space for dogs in need, they’ve created an environment where the community can come together to make a difference. Every life saved and every heart changed is a testament to their unwavering commitment to both the dogs and the people of Polk County.

What Drives them

Their Mission

PCBP’s primary mission is to save dogs most at risk in shelters, which are often designated as “rescue only” and not available for public adoption. By working closely with Polk County Animal Control, PCBP strives to change the county’s status as having the highest euthanasia rates in Florida, with the ultimate goal of achieving a no-kill shelter status by 2025.

Save a Life

Why Foster or Adopt?

Fostering a dog through Polk County Bully Project is a life-changing experience for both the dog and the foster family. It provides a safe, loving environment where rescued dogs can heal, grow, and prepare for adoption. Fosters play a vital role in helping dogs build trust, overcome challenges, and show their true personalities, making it easier to find their perfect forever home. By opening your heart and home, you’re not just saving one dog’s life—you’re creating space for PCBP to rescue another in need.

Adopting instead of shopping for a pet saves lives and helps combat the overpopulation crisis in shelters. Millions of dogs, including loving and loyal breeds, are euthanized each year simply because shelters lack space or resources. When you adopt, you’re giving a second chance to an animal that desperately needs a home, often rescuing them from neglect, abandonment, or abuse.
