One of the biggest misconceptions about free meal programs is that the food may not be nutritious. In reality, all Summer BreakSpot meals are designed to meet USDA nutrition guidelines and provide balanced options for growing kids.
Breakfasts typically include:
• A dairy or approved nondairy beverage
• A serving of fruit or vegetables
• A serving of grains
Lunches and suppers typically include:
• A dairy or approved nondairy beverage
• Two servings of fruits and/or vegetables
• A serving of grains
• A serving of protein
Snacks include two of the following:
• A dairy or approved nondairy beverage
• A fruit or vegetable
• A grain
• A protein source
