1st Class Roofing, in collaboration with The Auburndale Library and Auburndale Kiwanis, is thrilled to introduce a special project that’s sure to brighten our community—the installation of the outdoor mini library, lovingly named the Lil Library, at Downtown Auburndale Park. This charming addition to our park is more than just a structure; it’s a beacon of learning and sharing, filled with free books for kids and adults alike to take, read, and enjoy.
Mark your calendars for a heartwarming event! The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Lil Library will be held on Thursday, September 5th at 2 PM at Downtown Auburndale Park. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this new chapter of community involvement and literacy.
But this is just the beginning! The Lil Library at Downtown Auburndale Park is the first of many installations planned throughout the City of Auburndale. The idea was sparked by none other than Glenn & Dovonna Roberts, owners of 1st Class Roofing. As proud Auburndale natives, the Roberts have deep roots in this community and a heartfelt desire to give back in a meaningful way. They recognized that literacy is one of the leading issues children face today, and wanted to contribute to a solution that reaches beyond the walls of a traditional library.
Dovonna Roberts fondly recalls her own childhood experiences at the Auburndale Library: “I remember going to Auburndale Library to use the computer for my homework, because back then we didn’t have internet. I would get books and read after school, and we want to reach kids not just in the library, but outside of it as well.”
Driven by this passion, the staff and their families at 1st Class Roofing took on the project of constructing and decorating the Lil Library at their business location in Auburndale. The result is a beautifully crafted and inviting space where books can find new homes and imaginations can soar.
Looking ahead, 1st Class Roofing plans to collaborate with other local organizations, including The Girl Scouts, to bring even more creativity and fun to future Lil Libraries. Each installation will have its own unique design, making every visit a new and exciting experience.
To ensure that the Lil Library remains a vibrant resource, The Auburndale Library and Auburndale Kiwanis have pledged to keep it stocked with a variety of fun and educational books. Kids and parents are encouraged to explore the selections, take a book or two, and return them once they’ve been enjoyed so that others can experience the joy of reading.
